INTRODUCTION

The dynamic scenario of socio-economic and political fronts the world is experiencing now has continuously present challenges to the effective management of contemporary organizations. This dynamism dictates the needs for all organizations to constantly update their current management  practices or adopt new ones that are paralleled to the reality of the new market demands.  Such undertaking is vital for providing a proper platform towards enhancing their relevancy and competitiveness, which would eventually promote success.

In this context, many new developments have emerged and will continueto grow in the future that would undoubtedly have impacts on conventional human resource management practices. The pace of globalization processes pursued by active global players, hyper economic activities, and new scenario in legal and political landscape are among major change levers.  Nevertheless, other aspects including cultural factors, workforce diversity, health and safety issues and the development of information and communication technology (ICT) are equally influential. Hence, organizational human resources should be responsive to the requirements of these new realities and where possible existing practices need to be revisited to provide a meaningful and most importantly an effective workforce.

It is hoped that this conference can shed some lights on various HR related issues and challenges through which experts, practitioners and researchers in the area will be sharing a common platform to share their views and experiences for the betterment of the way “people” should be managed.
